Responsibilities
The Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Youngstown State University (YSU) invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position. Trains undergraduate and master’s degree students and displays a strong commitment to teaching. Teaches courses in genetics, Forensic Biology, and has the opportunity to develop upper-level undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the appointee’s area of expertise. Contributes to scholarship, service, and FEPAC accreditation for the department’s forensic science program. Conducts competitive independent research, mentors both graduate and undergraduate students and publishes appropriately at the level expected of an R2 institution.
Communicates effectively, with appropriate responsiveness, to student needs and a willingly commits to professional development.
Incumbent expected to help fulfill department’s obligation for continued excellence in the preparation of students entering biosciences, forensic science, and medically related professions. Develops collaborative research efforts within the department, across campus, at local hospitals, police departments, government agencies or other universities. Participates in departmental and college service activities.
Position Information: Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Qualifications
- Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None
- Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology or related area required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral employment in genetics, forensic/ DNA, or a genealogy laboratory. Experience directing student research projects and a well-articulated plan for future undergraduate/M.S. graduate research. Experience in online learning.
