Job description

Assistant Professor in Conservation/Environmental Education within the School of Natural Resources at the University of Missouri. This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track endowed position with teaching and research responsibilities. The position will also be affiliated with the Institute of Fisheries, Wetlands and Aquatic Systems.  Salary is commensurate with experience. 

Starting Date: August 2024, or as negotiated. 

Responsibilities: The incumbent will be expected to develop a nationally-prominent research program focused on evaluation of the efficacy of conservation and environmental education strategies and curricula.  The faculty holding this position will be expected to garner substantial extramural funding in support of research and outreach. Teaching responsibilities will include 2-3 courses per year (at least one at the graduate level) related to Conservation/Environmental Education.  Student advising and serving on graduate committees is also expected. The Prairie Fork Conservation Area http://prairiefork.org/ (a site jointly administered by the School of Natural Resources and the Missouri Department of Conservation) will be used to facilitate teaching and outreach efforts.  This Area is also affiliated with the Children Learning Outdoors (ChLOE) program.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in environmental/natural resources education, sustainability education, human dimensions of natural resources and/or a closely related education-focused discipline by the time of appointment.  

Candidates will be evaluated on: 1) outstanding teaching experience, 2) experience working collaboratively with natural resource or conservation education agencies and organizations, 3) a record of extramural funding potential in support of strong research and/or outreach programs, 4) strong verbal and written communication skills, and 5) experience with program evaluation and assessment.
