General Function
The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The Assistant Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Assistant Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
Description of Primary Duties
The Missouri State University Department of Finance, Economics and Risk Management anticipates an August 2024 opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Economics. Candidates must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Economics from an AACSB International accredited university (ABDs with anticipated completion by August 2024 may be considered), a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the university level, a demonstrated scholarly record, and a commitment to work with diverse student and community populations. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in econometrics, data analysis, and/or other general economics courses delivered via traditional classroom and/or online; pursuing economics-related research leading to publication in refereed journals and paper presentations at professional meetings; and providing service to Missouri State University, the profession, and the community. Application package must include cover letter, vita, unofficial transcripts, writing sample, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Date of first consideration is November 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications
Candidates must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or DBA) in Economics from an AACSB International accredited university (ABDs with anticipated completion by August 2024 may be considered).
