POSITION PURPOSE
Retail Assistant Manager works in all areas of the store in coordination with the Retail Store Manager. Effectively manages the store operations by ensuring that; donors and customers receive superior customer service, production, sales, and margin goals are achieved, and ensuring employees follow applicable policies and procedures.
JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.
Assist in management of proper processing and separation of incoming donations.
Ensure assigned store maximizes used goods processing through proper application of Production Standards: sorting, preparing, and pricing items for sale. Ensure production goals are met or exceeded on a consistent basis.
Ensure maximum sales performance through proper stock rotation, display, signage, and inventory levels. Ensure the store meets or exceeds goals on a consistent basis.
Ensure the store is presenting quality customer service in a timely and courteous manner to all people.
Act as a liaison with Workforce Development for client program coordination as directed.
Assure that proper attention is given to floor appearance, cleanliness, and shopping environment including but not limited to: floor care, fitting rooms, cash register areas, aisles, trash cans, lights, restrooms, glass cases, window ledges, and doors. Ensure that doors, odor control, POS equipment, fire extinguishers, and restrooms are in proper working order.
Assist in maintaining the appearance of the building exterior and parking lot, including but not limited to: windows, doors, sidewalks, parking lot lights, dumpster area, landscape, shopping cart retrieval, store entry, and signage.
Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly production environment. Ensure machinery and/or devices are in proper working order.
Keep facility clean and free of safety hazards. Ensure that safety procedures are understood and followed by all store employees.
Ensure loss prevention matters are reported, investigated, and corrected in a timely manner.
Ensure proper operation of store security including but not limited to: door locks, alarms, office door, bank deposits, refunds, safe, and incident reports. Ensure proper cash handling, enforcement of POS procedures, and submission of required reports.
Assist the Retail Store Manager in hiring, training, evaluating, and managing store personnel so as to provide an efficient and effective work force. Maintain morale of work force.
Ensure store reports, personnel status changes, and participant program information are communicated accurately and in a timely manner.
Effectively manage the assigned store to ensure proper adherence to organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure proper utilization of Human Resources (HR) to effectively maintain order including corrective action to promote positive actions.
Maintain availability to work a flexible work schedule consisting of a minimum of two evenings (store closing) shifts a week and two weekends (Saturday and Sunday) a month.
Attend mandatory management and training meetings and conducts store meetings monthly.
Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Comply with all health, safety and fire standards and all local state and federal regulations (OSHA).
Performs other duties as assigned.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Three to four years related production/retail management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Language Skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills
Must have a good driving record with a valid driver’s license.
Current Driver’s License, proof of personal auto insurance, and good driving record.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to compute rate and percent and to interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
Reasoning Ability.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to prioritize constantly changing goals and objectives. Ability to accomplish multiple task assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
Computer Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of POS system, SharePoint, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) computer programs.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
GIGCA’s POS certification for Sales Associate II (Training provided).
Key holder certification (Training provided).
Forklift certification on all lifts (Training provided), if applicable.
Current Drivers License, proof of personal auto insurance, good driving record.
