Under the direction of the Golf Course Mechanic, this position will coordinate, schedule, and diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform necessary repairs and preventive maintenance on all golf course maintenance equipment, and assist with course set-up.Other duties may be assigned.
Assists the Golf Mechanic in the following:
Diagnoses and performs repairs to vehicles, mowers, and other golf course maintenance equipment.
Performs equipment maintenance and repair tasks, and troubleshoots equipment problems for golf maintenance equipment.
Performs all functions involved in preventive maintenance program.
Performs all sharpening and adjustments to all golf course mowing machinery.
Makes recommendations for improvement in basic maintenance procedures.
Operates all equipment when needed in a safe and productive manner.
Assists with morning course set-up routines.
Communicates with Golf Course Mechanic on maintenance concerns to be certain that tasks are completed in timely manner.
May oversee equipment/stock to ensure sufficient stock; may order parts as needed.
May maintain information on and complete reports related to all golf course equipment as well as fuel tanks.
Will act as Golf Course Mechanic in the absence of the Golf Course Mechanic on a limited, temporary, and as needed basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May train new staff in proper and safe equipment operation.High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year golf course equipment maintenance, vehicle or small engine repair, or related experience. Experience in preventative maintenance preferred. Experience with Windows-based PC applications to include Microsoft 365. Experience with equipment management application for work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, and parts inventory preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, as well as procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, circumference, and volumes. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of repair and PM procedures used within the fleet repair industry preferred. Ability to learn and follow shop standard operating procedures. Ability to be flexible in hours of shop operation as well as "on-call" availability.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Both hand and power tools. Cleaning chemicals, oils and chemicals used in the automotive repair business. Equipment such as tire machines, brake lathes, automotive lifts.
