The Assistant Director of Camper Wellness will be the front-line communicator with parents, caregivers, and families attending and interested in the JCC Ranch Camp. This position works directly with the community to engage and register families, ensure campers are being set up for success during the summer, and will supervise members of the seasonal camp team. This person is second in line in the camp administrative structure and will often be speaking from a position of leadership on behalf of the organization.
Responsibilities
Outreach, Communication, and Marketing
Manage mass-marketing & individual-focused marketing management via CampMinder, JCC the Ranch Camp website, and social media channels
Organize and manage recruitment events with local and out of state community partners and Jewish organizations
Partner with Camp Director on recruitment strategy for both campers and staff
Coordinate JCC-wide events as well as attend community-wide events as a representative of Ranch Camp
Design and implement annual marketing plan and schedule in partnership with JCC Marketing Department
Directly oversee in-season communications ensuring timely and appropriate communication with parents/caregivers when necessary
Manage CRM system (CampMinder) for reporting, enrollment, and camper needs tracking
Camper Care
Track and identify camper needs (allergies, mental health, physical health, etc.) prior to summer; and work with Inclusion Specialist to follow up with identified needs campers; create support plans for identified needs campers
Support all staff to ensure camper physical, emotional and social needs of Campers are being met at all times
Oversee and execute session pick-up and drop-off procedures to ensure campers transition seamlessly into camp life
Assist in all ACA and Colorado State Licensing Accreditations and visits ensuring complete and accurate camper records
Manage and review all camper paperwork and related communication leading up to and during the summer season
Hiring and Supervision
Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and overall hiring of seasonal staff
Assist with development and implementation of annual seasonal staff training
Directly supervise seasonal Unit Head and Camper Care teams
Supervise office manager and oversee office logistics
Leadership & Year-Round Programs
Provide leadership and oversight during camp season as well as year-round programs, including rentals and retreats
Partner with JCC employees for organization-wide projects and staff JCC-hosted events
Lead and participate in thematically relevant programming for other youth-serving departments
Other duties as Assigned
You might need to make campers’ dreams of a beach themed ice-cream campfire song session come true or become your favorite legendary Pokémon for an evening program
Other relevant tasks to support the overall operation of a top-notch camp program
Basic Qualifications
Two to threeyears ofexperience incamping, social work, counseling, education or in a related fieldin a supervisory capacity
Four to five years of experience working directly with children, youth, and/or families
Passion for creating inclusive and supportive environments for youth and young adult staff
Passion for working with individuals with identified needs and diverse backgrounds
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including supervision
Ability to make strategic and empathetic decisions based on organization's values and risk mitigation
Adept to expert familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, or similar software
Preferred Qualifications
Degreein social work,counseling, education, Jewish education, orin a related field
Familiarity with CampMinder
Familiarity with Colorado State Childcare Licensing Guidelines and ACA Standards
Benefits Overview
This full-time position is benefits-eligible. The JCC contributes a portion of medical, dental and vision plan premiums and pays for Basic Life Insurance & AD&D, Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability. There are additional voluntary benefit plans available. The JCC has a 401(K) Plan available for elective deferral contributions for employees over 21 years of age, with no waiting period. Paid Time Off is a day-one benefit, accrued based on years of service and in compliance with the Colorado Healthy Families & Workplaces Act.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
The position requires the candidate to remain in a sitting position for prolonged hours in an office environment. While performing duties, the candidate is occasionally required to stand, walk use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Candidate must occasionally lift and or/move up to fifty (50) pounds. Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle or workspace.
