Position Summary
Leader of a motivated, highly functioning team; works closely with and reports to the Associate Dean or Vice Dean. Oversees all aspects of the Career Center, including strategy, program development and implementation, and coordination of all career services and professional development activities for all JD, JSD, LLM and MLS students, to ensure optimal placements for all students. Represents the law school to stakeholders including students, alumni, employers, and faculty. Development of creative, strategic initiatives, as well as attention to the detailed operations and functions of the Career Center are essential to the success of the office and school of law.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead Office: Develop and implement strategies for the success of the office. Supervise team members and operations in all work including large scale initiatives, curriculum development, teaching, student career strategies, data, reporting, etc. Some examples of the large scale initiatives overseen by the Assistant Dean include, but are not limited to: (1) American Bar Association data reporting and audit management which directly impacts the law school rankings and accreditation; (2) Mock interview program for 1300 students with alumni in over 30 cities; (3) Early engagement program for every incoming student before classes begin; (4) Alumni mentor programs for student body of over 1300; (5) Train and supervise Peer Career Advisors to supplement career strategy advising; (6) Train and supervise regional and practice area specific attorney advising and mentor programs; (7) Employer outreach, engagement and recruiting initiatives; and, other existing and future initiatives.
  • Lead Individual Career Strategy Vision: Oversee the individual career strategies developed by team members for students and alumni. Set the vision and institute efficient, but effective approaches to ensure we are educating, advising, and creating opportunities for current students, transfer students, and alumni. Maintain a portfolio of students. Ensure accurate reporting on the status and plan for each student.
  • Oversee teaching, presentation, and professionalism curriculum. Oversee and contribute to the development of professionalism curriculum with concrete metrics for success. Collaborate with other law school and university offices, including Graduate and International Programs, the Office of Student Life, Law Admissions, and the Office of International Students and Scholars to provide integrated programming.
  • Communications and Events: Oversee student and employer communications and social media accounts to ensure they are effectively impacting the goals and mission of the office. Oversee large-scale networking and recruiting events, including: (1) Diversity Expo; (2) Employer Showcase; and (3) on and off campus interview programs, and measure effectiveness with concrete metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • JD, Bar Admission.
  • Supervisory experience of large Team and budget.
  • Metric focused success.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Legal writing expertise.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision making.
  • Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents.
  • Ability to work well without close supervision.
  • Strong general written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience building partnerships with law firms, businesses, agencies, and schools; experience teaching.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of directly related experience.

Salary Range
$73,700.00 - $125,900.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
