Description of Position:
We are seeking a Special NeedsVirtual Math Teacher for our 3rd - 8th grade students who have adhd, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and possibly other learning challenges. You will use your experience, skills, and passion for helping/teaching children to understand math in a real-life manner in 50 minute sessions with 1-5 students at a time.
You will teach math through real-life application and only real-life application. If you can't find a real-life situation that illustrates the math concept or skill then we don't teach it. This is teaching the way that teaching should be.
Please only apply if you can teach Math in an exciting, motivating, hands-on, and interactive way. You have all the latitude to do what you feel is best for your students but rote teaching/learning is not what we are looking for or who we are.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Special Needs required.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience required.
- At least 1 year of Virtual Teaching experience.
Payment and Related:
You will be paid -
$15 to teach 1 student
$5 more for every additional student you teach during a 50 minute class. We never have more than 5 students in a class. Yes, possibly $40 to teach 1 class of 5 kids.
We need someone who has a flexible schedule as we serve students from around the world.
You will be paid as a 1099 independent contractor on Saturday of each week (via electronic payment) and based on the number of sessions you teach during the previous week (Monday - Friday). Should you miss a session, you will not be paid and will be dismissed. Should you run late for a session more than 1 time, you will be dismissed. Should your students be a no-show or cancel, you will be paid 50%. There are no benefits with this position.
Additional Expectations of Position:
There are teacher meetings every month. You are paid $15 for to attend and participate in this meeting.
You will be required to communicate with parents via google doc at the end of each week about their child's progress. This is a requirement, not a request. You are paid $5 per each student who you provide information for in this document.
You are paid $5 for planning for 1-2 students and $10 for planning for 3+ students.
