As the Assistant Dean, External Relations for UCLA Extension (UNEX), you will serve as a guiding force in providing the leadership, guidance and inspiration to our External Relations staff. Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of College Development and Individual Giving and in consultation with the Dean of UNEX, you will establish long-range goals and objectives for UNEX External Relations programs, activities and outreach. For over a century, UNEX has helped prepare people to live better lives through the power of education. As one of the nation's oldest, largest and most comprehensive continuing and professional studies providers, UNEX gives you a wide range of options to expand career opportunities, switch careers, or achieve personal growth. We encourage you to bring your strong experience in fundraising, commitment to excellence, and drive for success to this role.
Working collaboratively with the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Dean and UNEX academic and administrative leadership, you will determine market feasibility for academic priorities and provide advice and counsel. You will design and implement a strategic plan for External Relations that represents the Dean's priorities and will prepare for and participate in major gift solicitations. As the Assistant Dean, you will identify a core group of prospective donors for major gifts and maintain active awareness of individuals in the prospect pool at various stages of identification, cultivation and solicitation. You will use available data to develop constituencies and identify prospects in relation to academic priorities; will organize and conduct meetings of volunteers and donors designed to identify new prospective donors for private support; and will create additional vehicles and methods for identifying prospects as necessary. As the Assistant Dean, you will also meet with faculty in priority areas and gain knowledge of research interests and areas of expertise as well as serve as a staff resource to the UNEX Dean and represent UNEX to the broader community. You will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with appropriate individuals and offices in UNEX, UCLA College and throughout External Relations and UCLA. In addition, as the Assistant Dean, you will oversee all aspects of program management for UNEX events and activities and will also provide direction and supervision to a team of external affairs professional and support staff. You will be a valued member of our team, in an environment supported by a strong management team and driven colleagues where you will be provided with the tools to succeed as part of the many professional growth opportunities we offer staff at UCLA.
