We are filling various full and part-time positions.
The cadre department is a team of instructors who work directly with our youth participants, whom we call cadets. The team has a strong focus on creating a structured environment and emulating the program's quasi-military standards. Cadre foster ambition and confidence among the cadets by providing purpose, direction, and motivation.
Montana Youth Challenge Academy is a residential academic intervention program on the campus of The University of Montana Western for 16-18 year old students who are behind in credits or otherwise not on track to graduate high school.
The cadre also support the cadets with developing qualities like:
- time management and prioritization skills
- accountability/self-reflection in respects to achieving goals
- working independently and in groups
- conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- identifying and processing difficult emotions
- recognizing choices that contribute to a healthy lifestyle
Ultimately, cadre work alongside other departments to maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment.
In addition to state benefits, annual salary ranges from $41,057 to $45,801 and starting July 1st will be changed to $44,180 to $48,900 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
This position is posted as "ongoing until filled" candidates will be screened every Friday starting May 12th.
It is preferred that applicants have a combination of previous experience working with youth and two years of professional experience; however, qualified applicants may have ANY of the following:
1) two years post-secondary education.
2) two years of experience working with youth.
3) two years of military experience.
4) a combination of the above options that equals at least two years of experience.

- Be able to pass background and driving records checks.
- Be of good moral character as determined by reference and background checks.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test. Possess or be able to obtain a valid MT driver's license. Have a good driving record.
