Advertised Job Summary
The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs is responsible for leadership and oversight of all aspects of the College of Nursing's undergraduate and graduate Student Affairs activities. These responsibilities include strategic visioning and planning, problem-solving to ensure quality Student Affairs activities, development/ refinement of policies and procedures, implementation of effective student strategies, monitoring and quality assurance of Student Affairs processes and procedures, and communication strategies to enhance processes and procedures. Directly supervises the Student Affairs operations within the Office of Student Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, or related field. Minimum of six years' administrative and management experience in Student Affairs/services capacity of an accredited institution of higher education.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of academic/university systems and processes. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Excellent analytical skills, ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, attentiveness to details and results. Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing, with all constituents of the College of Nursing, including students, staff, faculty, administrators, alumni, and partners. Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills sufficient to inspire, lead, and work effectively with diverse groups Ability to effectively direct, manage, and lead professional and support staff. Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines. Excellent problem solving skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines. Understanding and support of the teaching, research, practice, and service missions of the College of Nursing. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Job Duty
Supervises and coordinates the fulfillment of Student Affairs goals related to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the College's enrollment management plan and ensures that it aligns with the College's strategic goals and objectives. In collaboration with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and other stakeholders, collects and analyzes relevant data and uses this information in the strategic planning and decision-making process of enrollment management to sustain quality and self-improvement. Develop and implement a data-informed assessment plan to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment and marketing strategies and implement changes with the Director of Recruitment, as necessary. Works closely with the CON business office to recommend an operating budget, manages teamwide spending, and ensures the unit runs on budget and reporting is accurate, monitored, and timely. Implements cost control measures where needed and recommends plans for budget adjustments if appropriate.

Oversees development and revision of student policies with the CON, recommends policies for approval, and implements those policies which are approved. Make referrals to other University student services as appropriate. Assess student-oriented business processes, policies, practices, and procedures to minimize risk and ensure compliance. Annually query Boards of Nursing for changes in policy and procedures. Notify appropriate College University leadership of changes and how they will impact key areas for Student recruitment/admissions. Lead annual update of undergraduate and graduate handbooks.

Serves as liaison between the student body, faculty, and administration on matters affecting students. Serves as a student advocate for Student petitions, grievances, or disciplinary matters. Serves as Worker's Compensation Coordinator to provide faculty and student administrative support regarding student injuries or exposures. Ensure that the College understands, evaluates, and responds to student access needs and resource demands, patterns of student access request/usage and concerns about access, and compliance with the policies and procedures related to academic accommodations and services.

Oversees development and monitoring of statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiencies. Oversees yearly recruitment schedule planning based on the strategic goals. Analyzes inquiry and application trends to identify potential opportunities for advancement or efficiency and monitors admissions activities and processes through analysis of key performance indicators. Monitors state-wide, national, and international educational and enrollment trends to inform adjustment of strategies accordingly.

Works with Carolina Analytics to collect, analyze and effectively utilize institutional data to improve the delivery of Student Affairs programs. Utilize Carolina Analytics to develop, maintain, and report on quantitative and qualitative retention performance measures, reporting metrics regularly to senior leadership. Works closely with Career Center and CON Alumni Relations for the success of cross-functional teams to improve the end-to-end experience.

Represents the CON at meetings, on university and CON committees, recruitment, and alumni activities. Oversees selection of student representatives for CON and other committees. Coordinates student activities with other appropriate offices and organizations on campus. Coordinates with key stakeholders to identify and develop student services to respond to the changing needs of students. Provides advice/guidance for Students regarding student, personal and professional issues (success strategies, career choices), graduation, and scholarship/traineeship applications. Make appropriate referrals. Provides support to graduating students for NCLEX RN applications.
