Armada Community Specialist plays a pivotal role in building, nurturing, and expanding our esports community, in addition to fostering positive relationships with our audience, promoting engagement, and ensuring that our community remains vibrant, inclusive, and active across various platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Community Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for the Armada esports community, engaging with members across Full Sail One, Discord, Twitch, and other necessary social media platforms, forums, and communication channels. Foster meaningful interactions, answer inquiries, and address concerns to maintain a positive community atmosphere.
  • Community Moderation: Monitor community activity to uphold community guidelines and standards. Address inappropriate behavior, enforce rules, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all members.
  • Event Support: Assist in organizing and promoting esports events, tournaments, and meetups. Coordinate community participation, manage event logistics, and facilitate interactions between players, fans, and influencers. Must attend all events planned by Armada and any campus or local esports events related to Full Sail Armada.
  • Content Creation: Collaborate with the Community Management and Social Media teams to generate engaging content tailored to the esports community. Develop creative strategies to showcase community highlights, promote events, and amplify user-generated content.
  • Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from the community regarding their preferences, concerns, and suggestions. Compile and analyze insights to inform decision-making processes, improve community experiences, and drive engagement strategies.
  • Community Development: Work closely with Armada leadership to review and understand overarching community goals and proactively develop initiatives to achieve those goals. Collaborate on initiatives, cross-promotions, and partnerships to expand reach and enhance community connections.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay informed about emerging trends, developments, and conversations within the esports community. Identify opportunities for engagement, content creation, and community-building initiatives aligned with current interests and preferences.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Deliver regular updates on community activity to the Community Manager and Armada leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Community Manager to establish and uphold best practices for community engagement across our platforms.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Competencies:
  • Passion for esports and gaming culture, with a deep understanding of various gaming communities and trends.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing online communities, including community moderation, content creation, and engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency in Discord, Twitch, Slack, all major social media platforms, forums, and community management tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Critical thinker who can evaluate trends and formulate actionable goals
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, particularly during esports events and peak community engagement times.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Writing, Communications, Journalism, or a similar field, and a minimum of 2 – 3 years of professional writing experience.

  • N/A
Computer/Equipment Skills:
  • Proficiency in Discord administrative tools (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable using a Mac platform
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alphanumeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
