The Governmental and Community Affairs Specialist will play a pivotal role in liaising between the hospital, local communities, and governmental bodies to ensure effective communication, advocacy, and compliance. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief of Staff, this position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of governmental processes, community dynamics, and healthcare policy. The Specialist will be responsible for governmental bill review, community engagement, coordination with parent organizations, and supporting initiatives to promote the hospital's interests and Community well-being.
- Review governmental bills and regulations to assess potential impacts on the hospital.
- Actively engage in local and state Government Affairs to represent the hospital's interests. Stay informed about local
events, changes, and initiatives that could affect the hospital's operations or reputation. - Review invoices for accuracy and validity, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with University of Florida (UF) and UF Health Shands, and their federal affairs departments.
- Monitor and participate in community events such as but not limited to economic development councils, chamber
meetings, and other forums relevant to the hospital's interests. - Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop innovative strategies to promote the hospital and its community
efforts. - Maintain strong relationships with key community stakeholders and foundations to support the hospital's mission.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Program of Study: Governmental Affairs, Community Relations, Public Policy, or equivalent.
Experience
- 1-year experience in governmental affairs, Community Relations, or healthcare advocacy required.
- Experience working with governmental bodies, community organizations, or healthcare institutions preferred.
