Application Solution Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:The Application Solution Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions in an AWS cloud environment across various areas of the business that will address complex challenges. Working closely with cross-functional teams and project stakeholders, the engineer will ensure that the application design aligns with business goals and enterprise technical standards. This role requires extensive knowledge and understanding of platform architecture, software development, well architected frameworks, and the ability to solve complex technical challenges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

• Design and document application software that adheres to the principles of a well architected framework in an AWS cloud environment.
• Collaborate with key business stakeholders on application and platform vision translating that into technical solutions.
• Create and maintain application design documentation including diagrams and runbooks.
• Participate in full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Work in a full CI\CD pipeline using tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps and GIT to build, deploy and support software development.
• Work directly with the Software Architects to ensure that overall Enterprise architecture governance and guidance is being executed on at the application development level.
• Deploy software to Kubernetes pods in stable and scalable structure that adheres to an Agile development cadence.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• The ability to understand and translate business needs aligning them to proper technical Application Solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work with multiple teams at the same time.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on multiple business critical projects simultaneously.
• Understanding of core security and compliance principles in a healthcare environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems.
• Ability to work independently when necessary, even when on a large team.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or related field, required or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of application development experience in an AWS environment working across Platform as a Service, Software as a Service, Infrastructure as Code and other associated micro-services.
• 5+ years of experience developing applications in C# and JavaScript language sets using industry standard application framework best practices.
• 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes and Docker in an AWS environment.
• 5+ years of experience using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python and Perl.
• 3+ years of experience using current versions of Spring and React frameworks.
• Solid knowledge and experience working with Jenkins with focus on CI/CD pipelines and GIT repositories.
• Solid knowledge of Agile Methodology and 2+ years of working in a Scrum team setting.

• Be subject to background investigation and must receive a favorable background investigation from the VA
