Manufacturing Engineer
Dept: Manufacturing Report to: Executive Director NPD
JOB SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer has the responsibility to enhance our production capabilities, optimize processes, and ensure the highest standards of product quality. This role develops, implements, and maintains production processes utilizing lean manufacturing principles, specifies production equipment used in these processes and is tasked to implement and maintain a safety awareness program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, sustain and enhance production processes to improve safety, quality, ergonomics, workstations/tooling standards, and cycle times.
- Review engineering change orders for manufacturability.
- Performs Item Master set-up and updates Bills of Material, executes production planning in MRP Easy or other ERP system as applicable.
- Manage pilot production of new and vertically integrated products. Responsibilities include developing new production processes, scheduling, and supervising production personnel during pilot.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing instructions.
- Manage calibration requirements for equipment used in manufacturing and receiving inspection.
- Participate as core team member on product development and engineering change teams to optimize processes and address manufacturing challenges to ensure smooth integration of products into the manufacturing process.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to develop and implement quality control procedures, ensuring products meet or exceed industry standards.
- Provide technical support to the production team, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Train production team to operator instructions and other aspects of the quality system to ensure ongoing proficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a focus on manufacturing systems.
- Minimum four years of experience implementing lean manufacturing principles in a medical device setting.
- ERP system experience- implementation experience preferred.
- Proven experience in project management
- Experience in ERP implementation with specific experience in planning/production or procurement.
- Evidence of building and maintaining excellent customer relationships, both internal and external.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and internal procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from large or small groups of managers &/or associates.
- Ability to effectively facilitate discussion/projects with large or small groups of managers &/or associates.
- Ability to prepare presentations for management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in ERP implementation with specific experience in planning, production or procurement or any combination of two.
- Siemens Step 7 Programming experience
- Membership in an industry-related organization
