Job position: APPLICATION ENGINEER
Reporting Line: PRODUCT MANAGER
SUMMARY
The objective of this role is to allow seamless business practices between MacLean Power Systems and internal and external customers. The roles' primary responsibility is to provide application assistance to customers and sales. Being friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills is necessary for this role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Provide technical support on questions pertaining to applications of MPS products from customers, engineering firms, MPS sales, and MPS customer service.
- Provide technical review of customer and project specifications; develop appropriate designs, support documentation, test reports, and cover letters as required.
- Develop & maintain a customer specification & approved catalog # database for future quotation reference.
- Maintain and update product catalog and website.
- Participate and collaborate with customers to develop & upgrade written specifications.
- Provide assistance to Product Manager in conducting on/off site product training & promotion
- Assist in assuring that product designs, components, and materials meet applicable standards. Possess understanding of all applicable product standards and provide assistance in certified test report development.
- Support engineering projects and assist in prototype design & development.
- Coordinate production of samples for testing, promotion, and marketing functions.
- Project management: from customer inquiry to installation and testing of product
- Create customer drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
- Perform cost estimates using available data and resources.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be capable of performing various mathematical calculations.
Ability to thoroughly review, analyze, and comment on technical specifications from customers.
Problem solving using mechanical and mathematical tools and resources.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
English is required. Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, members of the business community, employees or managers. Ability to write complex and confidential correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to clients, public groups, boards of directors, employees, management.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions either furnished or created in written/oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in high stress situations. Detail oriented with multi-tasking abilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum BS degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer certification is a plus
- CAD Skills Required (SolidWorks & AutoCad preferred)
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles and their application to product design and development
- Excellent Computer skills - (MS Office: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Must have creativity, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers
- 3 years experience
