Job Description: PTS Automation is actively searching for a skilled Applications / Controls Engineer to join our team in the expanding territory of Knoxville, Tennessee. In your capacity as an Applications / Controls Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver creative solutions that not only meet but exceed our customers' expectations. This role calls for ingenuity and the ability to generate inventive solutions for complex challenges. Utilizing your outstanding communication skills and the capacity to work autonomously, you will provide valuable support to both our internal staff and external customers.

Description and Responsibilities:

• Responding to inquiries regarding technology-based products and guiding customers on their effective utilization.
• Offering in-depth expertise in electronic systems, computer systems, and software applications, with the ability to troubleshoot related issues.
• Collaborating closely with PTS Automation associates and customers through in-person interactions, email, or phone conversations to address technical challenges.
• Engaging with manufacturers, PTS Automation Sales Team, and Customer Service at a technical level to discuss the products represented by PTS Automation.
• Evaluating and providing constructive feedback on the usability of new hardware or software packages introduced by manufacturers supported by PTS Automation.
• Conducting interactive training sessions and product demonstrations for PTS Automation products.
• Offering programming and configuration assistance both remotely and on-site with customers.
• On a project level, undertake the creation, development, and execution of control systems for automation projects. This encompasses PLCs, HMIs, Servo Drives, VFDs, Vision Systems, as well as both traditional and autonomous mobile robots.
• Travel to customers for design reviews, project start-ups, and troubleshooting support
• Travel is typically 5-10% overnight and 90-95% local.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Application Engineering technologies and methodologies.

Requirements:

• BS or AS related technical degree.
• Between 2 to 5 years of professional experience in Applications / Controls Engineering roles.
• Proven experience in designing and programming control systems using PLCs and HMIs
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and customers alike
• Self-motivated and ability to work through projects with minimal supervision
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in the automation or manufacturing industry is preferred.
