I) Job Purpose
The Project AOT Court Specialist will act as a Liaison between the Project AOT Program Manager, the John Peter Smith Hospital (JPSH) treatment teams, the Tarrant County Probate Judges, and the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
II) Essential Functions
A) Identify Potential Candidates for the Project AOT Program.
a. Meet with the JPSH treatment at least 3 times per week to identify potential candidates for the program.
b. Meet with the potential candidate to describe the program, assess for appropriateness, and answer any questions they might have.
c. If the candidate is agreeable to coming into the program, the Court Liaison will inform the Program Manager, the treatment team, and the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
d. If the candidate is not agreeable to coming into the program, they will alert the treatment team so they can develop an alternate disposition plan.
B) Provides monitoring to caseload of AOT committed individuals.
a. Moves to Modify Court Order to Inpatient Treatment if client decompensates or is non-compliant with court-ordered outpatient treatment as indicated.
b. Evaluates client and organizational risk in emergency situations and coordinates intervention with legal authorities, as indicated.
c. Attends weekly staffing to discuss client's progress in the program.
d. Participates in Difficult Case Consultations, as needed.
C) Work involves ongoing assessment in order to develop continuing treatments strategies within the Cognitive Behavioral model and the Cognitive Processing model as needed.
a. An ability to actively listen to the individual's issues and needs. The therapist must be empathetic and compassionate to those needs. The therapist must be able to communicate with the individual in a way that assists the individual in meeting his/her therapeutic needs.
D) Effectively assist the agency in the drafting, development, maintenance, and reform of policies and procedures for behavioral health services related to the Project AOT Program.
E) Collaborate, educate, and provide training to the community on the Project AOT Program.
F) Maintains Training and licensure.
a. Successfully completes MHMRTC training within 60 days of hire date 95% of the time.
b. Completes refresher training within 3 months of expiration 95% of the time.
c. Attends training and professional institutes and seminars for continued enhancement of position, as assigned 95% of the time.
G) Ensures the continued integrity of Project AOT Department functions.
a. Remains flexible toward requires schedule changes.
b. Keeps supervisor informed as to any staff or systems problems that may have emerged or may be emerging.
c. Ensures documentation meets established criteria and protocols.
d. Assists with training new staff, both internal and external, about the program.
H) Maintains proficiency in computer software applications specific to Project AOT.
a. Completes requisite computer training within established timeframe and demonstrates ongoing proficiency.
b. Maintains expertise in CMHS, CARE, EPIC, AOT Access Database and other programs required to research and input client information and data.

H) Knowledge of standards applicable to community centers, including confidentiality laws, Texas Mental Health Code, Utilization Management/Quality Management Processes, and MHMRTC Operating Procedures.
I) Demonstrated skill in developing productive relationships with clients, family members, service providers, and professional peers.
J) Extensive knowledge of client's needs and characteristics associated with the present primary disability population.
K) Extensive knowledge of federal, state, local community, and payor sources.
L) Ability to recognize obvious and subtle bureaucratic barriers and coordination issues between service systems and to skillfully bring into play personal arbitration I conflict-resolution strategies in difficult service integration situations.
M) Ability to cope with and assist others in coping with frustration and to be flexible in meeting organizational workload demands.
N) Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently or in a team, organize work efficiently, and to prioritize client and workload demands.
O) Ability to make construct use of professional supervision for self and the ability to provide constructive professional supervision to subordinates.
P) Demonstrated knowledge of assessment techniques, DSMV and the Texas Mental Health Code.
IV) Internal & External Customer Service
A) MHMRTCS program and administrative staff, contractors/private providers
B) Extensive external contact with JPS, Tarrant County Probate Courts, and the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
V) Travel
A) This position requires travel 50% of the time in personal vehicles. Also, there may be overnight travel to seminars once or twice a year.

G) License/Certifications:
a. Valid Texas Driver's License
b. Licensed LMSW, LPC-A, or LMFT-A
H) Special Courses: Ability to be certified as a QMHP

E) All work will be completed within the scheduled work hours. All non-exempt (hourly) employees are expected to clock in and clock out for each work shift, no work should be done off the clock.
