ABOUT THE POSITION
DEPARTMENT PROMO:
THIS RECRUITMENT IS A HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES PROMOTION ONLY. YOU MUST PRESENTLY BE A FULL- OR PART-TIME REGULAR HIRE COUNTY OF MARIN EMPLOYEE WITHIN THE HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION. YOU MUST ALSO HAVE PASSED THE FIRST HALF OF YOUR INITIAL COUNTY PROBATIONARY PERIOD.
There is currently one (1) full-time Administrative Services Technician (AST) vacancy in the Health and Human Services Department's (HHS) Office of Finance Centralized Billing Unit. This AST primarily serves the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division (BHRS). The AST works with the Senior Department Analyst and the Administrative Services Associate to perform a high volume of specialty mental health services claims to governmental and commercial insurance carriers. They are also involved in claims processing and follow-up and client billing and dispute resolution. Additional duties include assisting in developing policies and procedures, training support and special projects as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
Our Highly Qualified Candidate:
The ideal candidate has experience working in a finance setting with at least one year experience in medical billing. They also have excellent communication skills, are detail oriented and well organized. The ideal candidate has experience assisting in financial and client account maintenance, data entry and reconciliation of various spreadsheet and fiscal reports. Experience using medical practice management software such as Clinician's Gateway, SmartCare, and/or any electronic health record system is required.

Equivalent to completion of twelve semester or eighteen quarter units in coursework in business or public administration, accounting, economics or a field closely related to the work and two years of office administrative experience that included a combination of document review and processing, administrative or financial record keeping and/or office management. One year of additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education.

TESTING AND ELIGIBLE LIST:

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates selected are subject to fingerprinting by the Sheriff's Department and must pass a Department of Justice LiveScan background check prior to appointment.
DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS:
All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
