MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor & Operations Director and in cooperation with the Regional Supervisors & Center Directors, the Maintenance Technician keeps assigned areas of NCS buildings & grounds clean, sanitary, safe, and in good repair. This is a non-exempt position.
THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. At all times ensure safety for self, enrolled children and families, and NCS staff and visitors.
2. Assess all NCS sites for site safety and ongoing maintenance and repair needs and assist in identifying methods for correction.
3. Utilizing a work order system, determine time and materials for repair, maintenance and small construction jobs. Adhere to procurement procedures.
4. Perform basic construction, plumbing, electrical, & mechanical work including: roof repairs, gates, painting, and play equipment, faucets, toilets, drinking fountains, etc.
5. Maintain general landscaping and lawn care.
6. Operate trucks and vans, power equipment and hand tools following general safety guidelines.
7. Assemble, deliver and/or move equipment and furniture to sites as needed.
8. Adhere to all MSDS guidelines for all chemical materials utilized.
9. Promote high quality interpersonal communication and teamwork with co-workers, support/management staff, community services/schools, and community helpers.
10. Demonstrate self-awareness, self-regulation and motivation to assess own skills. Utilizes those skills and NCS performance reviews and ongoing feedback to make and follow up on plans for professional development.
11. Demonstrate appropriate professional role including: a) understanding boundaries,
b) maintaining confidentiality, c) working with allotted budget, d) notifying supervisor in a timely manner of absence from any work activity, and e) presenting acceptable behavior at all times.
12. Follow NCS Personnel Policies and other policies, applicable State and Federal regulations and standards, and NCS, Head Start and Early Head Start mission.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of common procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
2. 2 years of maintenance/construction experience desired.
3. Knowledge of mechanical principles related to motors.
4. Ability to learn, assist with and perform skilled tasks in the building & maintenance trade.
5. Ability to use power and hand tools and equipment safely.
6. Ability to follow oral and written directions.
7. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
8. Ability to read and follow label directions and to use materials and equipment appropriately.
9. Possession of:
· valid driver's license
· evidence of current automobile liability insurance
· good driving record
· reliable vehicle available for use during working hours
Physical Requirements
1. Must successfully complete a health screening and provide proof of the absence of TB no later than 7 days following the date of hire.
2. Physical agility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
3. Physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, reach overhead, push/pull, squat, twist, and turn.
Health and Safety Training Requirements
1. Must have a current Criminal Record Clearance with current Child Abuse Index Check on file with Community Care Licensing, or provide fingerprints and a Child Abuse Index Check prior to the first day of work in order to obtain a Criminal record clearance from the Department of Justice.
