Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Administrative Assistant - Security and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
The successful candidates will support the Security department in a number of administrative tasks. They will perform routine administrative duties including answering phones, making travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, assisting with internal and external correspondence, coordinating records, tracking commitments, updating calendars, and preparing reports. Security-specific administrative tasks will include:
- Coordinate the procurement, issuance, documentation, and return of Protective Force uniforms
- Conduct Visitor Badging/Site Access Control & Associated Paperwork
- Security Records Review, Filing, and Disposition
- Coordinate Security Training and Travel and Prepare Associated Expense Authorizations/Reports
- Act as Office Warden/Property Administrator/Area Landlord
- Prepare, Track, and Submit Official Correspondence
- Procure goods and services using government P-card as well as through the purchase requisition program
- Other duties as assigned by Security Management
The position requires ability to interact professionally with multiple levels of management, employees, and job applicants. Must exercise good judgement, discretion, and professionalism in all matters.
Non-Exempt Salary Grade (24-26)

- Associates degree with two (2) years of experience, or
- High School diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of experience is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements:
- Preference given to those candidates that have experience in physical security and or badging.
- Experience dealing with sensitive data is preferred (OUO/PII).
- Knowledge of DOE Security is desired.
- Previous WIPP experience is a plus.
Starting salary $50,931 per year *
*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
