The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) College of Liberal Arts is dedicated to fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. In this role as Administrative Assistant, Lead for the English Department, you will provide dedicated administrative support to the department. The role requires a strong focus on technological skills, organization, communication, and great attention to detail. Tasks include but are not limited to the administrative management of day-to-day operations, serving as a key contact point for students and faculty, coordinating departmental activities, managing department calendars, scheduling meetings, submitting the course schedule, tracking student enrollment data, handling course approvals, as well overseeing the department budget and purchasing for the department. The position is crucial in providing administrative in-person support to our growing college. In this position, you will work closely with the CLA leadership team and all of our our academic departments and programs to ensure the academic success of students across the UAF campus.
We are seeking a proactive professional with a strong command of the following programs: Gmail (email and calendar), Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, DocuSign, and Zoom. The ideal candidate should possess excellent customer service skills, along with outstanding organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication abilities. Additionally, the ideal candidate must emphasize teamwork, process efficiency, and providing exceptional customer service. Attention to detail and ensuring accuracy in all administrative tasks are crucial. The candidate should also be adept at problem-solving, addressing challenges promptly, and demonstrating a quick ability to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma (or equivalent) and three years of progressively responsible office/administrative experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
