Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist must be able to perform cash control procedures, apply excellent reasoning skills, understand multifaceted mathematical computations, take initiatives to solve complex issues and perform B2B collection functions. This position requires the use of good judgment, appropriate tact and people skills as a company business representative with customers, the public and others. Knowledge of Microsoft computer applications and accounting systems including word-processing, and Excel are also required.
Essential Functions
- Receive and process cash receipt transactions.
- Make necessary collection contacts to ensure prompt payment for assigned customers.
- Review sales orders for pricing accuracy. Work closely with Customer Service on any pricing discrepancies.
- Invoice Butter and Powder sales order with high degree of accuracy.
- Input and process customer deductions for claimed pricing discrepancies, claimed short or mis-shipments, claimed scorecard deductions, and claimed late delivery/loss of sale deductions.
- Contact customers as needed to resolve payment deductions.
- Prepare deduction write offs for approval.
- Cross train with other team members to provide back up support for absences.
- Follow all safety and working rules.
- Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.

Qualifications

- Knowledge of EDI preferable.
- Cash Application and B2B collections experience required.
- High-Volume, complex billing experience preferable.
- Must be able to operate a personal computer and have knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Ten-key by touch
- Experience with an integrated ERP system in the customer payment application process required.
- Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum 2 years Accounts Receivable experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance desirable. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- College level verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computational skills required.
- Advanced math reasoning required.
- Must be able to operate the equipment effectively after the appropriate break-in period.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Language Skills
A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed. Office personnel need excellent written and verbal communication skills for relaying and reporting information. All office personnel work on the main switchboard for varying lengths of time throughout the week, requires excellent hearing and speaking skills.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

Sitting/Standing/Walking: Office personnel spend about 75% of their time sitting at their desk while performing computer or manual accounting and other clerical duties. They walk short distances to retrieve and replace files, to photocopy or fax documents, and to interact with other office personnel.
Lifting/Carrying: Office personnel rarely carry items weighing over 15 to 20 lbs. Most items would be files or documents weighing less than 10 lbs, and most would be carried short distances. They are directed to seek assistance for heavier items such as a full box of photocopy paper.
Pushing/Pulling: They may occasionally push or pull files, stacks of documents, or boxes of documents, which may be in files or on shelves at any height. They are directed to seek assistance for anything heavy.
Bending/Stooping: Office personnel frequently bend and stoop to retrieve and replace files and documents in file drawers or on lower shelves.
Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: Office personnel frequently squat or kneel to retrieve and replace files and documents in file drawers or on lower shelves.

While standing or sitting at their workstation, they occasionally twist or turn to retrieve or replace something from an area beside or behind their workstation.
Climbing/Balancing: They walk up and down one flight of stairs several times throughout a day. Stairs are used for regular entry into and exit from the office building. One flight of stairs is accessed throughout the day to move from one work area to another within the building.
Reaching: They may reach overhead to retrieve or replace files or documents on high shelves.
Grasping/Manipulating: Office personnel need full range of motion in both hands for heavy computer input and for using other office equipment including calculators, typewriter, fax machines as well as for sorting through and organizing large stacks of documents.
