Job Description for Accounts Receivable Specialist

Reports To: Director of Accounting

Job Summary: Accounts Receivable Specialists are responsible for collecting payments from customers, using organization and communication skills. Accounts Receivable Specialists provide financial, clerical, and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate payment of accounts under his or her control.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Communication with customers to understand financial needs.

2. Maintaining spreadsheets for bookkeeping.

3. Follow up on, collect and allocate payments.

4. Carry out collection, and reporting activities according to specific deadlines.

5. Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities.

6. Research and resolve payment discrepancies.

7. Generate age analysis and review AR aging to ensure compliance.

8. Maintain Accounts Receivable customer files and records.

9. Develop a recovery system and initiate collection efforts.

10. Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail, or personally.

11. Assist with month-end closing.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills and expert user of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other accounting software applications. Proficient in relevant computer software including dealer software, Docuware and other systems.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

1-3 years Accounts Receivable and general accounting experience.
