Position Description:

• The Accounting Specialist ensures the processing, analysis, and reporting of assigned accounts aligns with accounting policies, controls, and guidelines.
• The Accounting Specialist confirms that travel arrangements are made in an accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner for department employees.

Skills Required:
Experience using computer applications including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software. Experience using the Advantage Financial System. Experience working with Accounts Payable    
 
Experience Required:
Two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience.
 
Experience Preferred:

• Three (3) or more years of accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience.
• Experience using computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word-processing software.
• Experience using the Advantage Financial System.
• Experience working with Accounts Payable and receivable.
• Experience working with cash management and accounts reconciliation.
• Professional experience coordinating travel arrangements.

Education Required:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Post-secondary education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis

Education Preferred:
Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
