Job Description
The Accounting and HR Generalist will provide needed support within the Accounting Department as well as the Human Resources Department.
Position Responsibilities:
Update and maintain sales payroll worksheets, calculating salary, draw and commissions. Receive, sort, and distribute checks on Friday.
Process journal entries for all sales commission payrolls, applying each line item to a specific job number and cost code, ensuring complete accuracy.
Process all new hire background checks and motor vehicle checks.
Reconcile, code and process check requests for various HR vendors monthly.
Maintain I-9 Files for all employees to ensure compliance with Federal laws.
Liaison for builders and customer service department for bonus checks – releasing checks only when 14-day claims have been cleared.
Maintain the digital filing system for all employees, creating new files for new employees and dispositioning files upon termination.
Process all PTO requests through ADP and update PTO calendar on Outlook.
Update and send out Price Sheets monthly and as needed throughout the month.
Calculate bonuses at the beginning of each month and process any corrections throughout the month.
Month end tasks such as account reconciliations, journal entries, and allocations.
Assist with gathering pre-audit, audit, and tax prep workpapers as requested and submitting them in a timely manner to outside accounting firm.
Audit sales files and review job cost budgets.
Prepare and report 1099-M income for subcontractors.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced level skills in Excel.
Familiar with payroll processing systems or knowledge of ADP Workforce Now.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Understanding and knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
