The College of Health Solutions seeks an energetic and resourceful team member to serve as the academic Success Advising Coordinator of Pre-Health Services. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Services, Pre-Health Services, the advising coordinator will advise pre-health students, act as a highly-skilled resource in assisting students on their pre-health pathway and help coordinate activities and programs associated with preparing students for successful application to health professional schools.

Essential Duties
- Performs pre-health advising activities for the College of Health Solutions to familiarize students with the requirements and application processes for professional schools, including medical, naturopathic, chiropractic, dental, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, podiatry, and veterinary.
- Uses eAdvisor, NAAHP, MSAR, and other health professions advising resources; assists students to understand professional school GPA requirements; identifies prerequisite courses; supports students with applying to health professional schools; monitors student progress and tracks student success.
- Provides feedback and guidance to pre-health students through one-on-one meetings, personal statement reviews, and mock interviews.
- Assist in coordinating Pre-Health programming including mentoring, workshops and pre-health boot camps in partnership with professional institution stakeholders.
- Supports and/or advises pre-health student organizations across the university.
- Assists with summer experiences for prospective pre-health high school students, including the Summer Health Institute (SHI) and health-related electives in the Barrett Summer Scholars program.
- May disseminate information via College of Health Solutions and pre-health websites, newsletters, social media, pre-health canvas page and promotional materials.
- Represents the College of Health Solutions on the Pre-Health Advising Network, works regularly with the Pre-Health Internship Program.
- Supports Assistant Director of Pre-Health to represent pre-health advising on university committees.
- Establishes networks with local, regional, and national health professional schools as well as other health professions advisors.
- Serves as college/department liaison to current and prospective students, staff, and external groups on issues related to health professions advising and activities.
- Collaborates with college academic advisors to identify students' potential interest in health professional schools.
- Responds to student questions and concerns in a timely manner and works with students to resolve all issues to ensure successful progress to application.
- Demonstrates mastery of conflict resolution principles and techniques.
- May train and support staff and student employees in learning/growing with technology.
- Adeptly uses multiple systems at the same time.
- Maintains an openness to new tools utilized across the University to aid in student success.
- Navigates complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans, establishes and maintains effective professional working relationships.
- Serves all College of Health Solutions pre-health students which includes students on the Downtown, Polytechnic, West and ASU Online campuses.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field and two (2) years or more of the following: advising or related student services utilizing a proactive and innovative approach which results in demonstrated outcomes in Academic Success Advising Coordinator retention, graduation, and academic planning; Or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a health professions advisor or working with pre-health students.
- Demonstrates knowledge of professional school requirements, processes, and applications.
- Experience advising college students, coordinating university programs, or working with student organizations.
- Ability to direct and provide support to undergraduate and recent College of Health Solutions graduates interested in pre-health advising services.
- Evidence of effective communication skills, including experience proofreading and providing feedback on writing.
- Experience working with high school summer programs or camps.
- Demonstrated track record in self-motivated, proactive and efficient work, showcasing quick learning abilities, exceptional organizational skills and a consistently positive attitude.
- Experience in utilizing knowledge to help identify solutions and ability to problem solve or refer escalating issues to the appropriate resource.
- Experience with preparing detailed reports and documents to provide analysis of data and identification of trends.

This position is eligible for Hybrid work. This is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location.
