OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide academic counseling for students and informational services for students and parents.
- Assist students with college and career planning.
- Collaborate with and serve as a resource person to faculty, staff, and administration.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide academic counseling for students
- Provide information on course selection and academic program planning in relation to course demands and rigor, HIGH SCHOOL graduation, and college admissions requirements
- Identify and assist students who are not on track for graduation and provide information about credit recovery and alternative options
Provide information services to parents through parent night workshops and meetings
- Disseminate information on the following topics: transition, college requirements, college timeline, four-year plan, college entrance exams, college and career research, and financial aid
Assist students in planning for the college admissions process
- Utilize a web-based college and career readiness program to guide students through the admissions process
- Provide a college planning timeline
Assist students in preparing for careers
- Provide a career planning timeline
- Review career/personality assessments to assess strengths and areas of growth
Collaborate with staff and faculty to inform them of college and career programs and resources
- Implement College and Career Readiness Curriculum in collaboration with English Department
- Provide training in College and Career Center initiatives
Coordinate and direct all aspects of college placement, career guidance, and post-secondary services
- Write individual counselor recommendations
- Review students’ college applications
- Provide student workshops on the college application process, essay writing, CSS profile, FAFSA, matriculation etc

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum BA/BS Degree in area Educational Counseling (MA Preferred)
- Appropriate certifications applicable to the position
- 3-5 years of experience preferred
- Skilled with U.C. Course Certifications
- Familiarity with SEVIS web-based system
- A well-grounded Christ-follower with a call to the ministry of teaching
- A passion to work with young people and their families
