Essen ial Func ions: Under he supervision of he Direc or of he Universi y Academic Advisemen Cen er (UAAC), he incumben serves as he Lead Advisor for a eam providing academic advisemen o Exploring (Undeclared) s uden s (including ransi ional s uden s seeking new majors) and Na ional Collegia e A hle ic Associa ion (NCAA) Division II S uden A hle es. In addi ion o advising s uden s, he Lead Advisor suppor s he Direc or in coordina ing arge ed advising campaigns and progress repor campaigns u ilizing he EAB Naviga e pla form). he Lead Advisor collabora es wi h he UAAC Direc or and A hle ics Adminis ra ors, including he Compliance Officer, o ensure Universi y compliance wi h California Collegia e A hle ic Associa ion (CCAA) and NCAA regula ions and policies. he Lead Advisor, working wi h college-based advising cen ers, assis s he Direc or in racking and moni oring s uden s hrough he process of major change. O her du ies include ga hering and analyzing advising da a and presen ing resul s as reques ed. he incumben also provides comprehensive advising services o a cohor of S uden A hle es; GE and Major advising, course selec ion, and scheduling assis ance o s uden s in all majors, ensuring compliance wi h NCAA eligibili y requiremen s; develops individualized educa ional plans for s uden s Reviews ranscrip s o ensure ransfer work is applied o degree comple ion; moni ors S uden A hle es academic progress, iden ifying and assis ing s uden s wi h academic difficul y and making appropria e referrals o addi ional s uden suppor services; serves as he primary academic resource person for Cal S a e LA A hle ics s aff and S uden A hle es, and works wi h facul y and college and depar men advisors o resolves academic issues involving S uden A hle es; processes applicable forms; uses GE o process s uden advising requiremen s; main ains s uden records Documen s s uden in erac ions; provides advising during s uden orien a ions; leads s uden success workshops; and discusses career op ions.
Required Qualifica ions & Experience: Equivalen o gradua ion from a four-year college or universi y in one of he behavioral sciences, public or business adminis ra ion or a job-rela ed field. Mus have equivalen of hree years of progressively responsible professional experience in s uden advising services. A mas er's degree may be subs i u ed for one year of experience. he incumben mus possess excellen organiza ional skills; excellen wri en and oral communica ion skills; have an unders anding of s andard office procedures; and mus demons ra e excellen communica ion and in erpersonal skills. he incumben mus have he abili y o plan, organize and priori ize work; develop and main ain da abase sys ems; es ablish and main ain effec ive working rela ionships wi h o hers; exercise ac , cour esy, aler ness and good judgmen when responding o o hers; mul i- ask, comple e assignmen s in a imely fashion, and work under pressure; demons ra e ini ia ive and he abili y o solve problems independen ly; communica e by phone, by email, and in group se ings; be compu er li era e and be proficien in s andard word processing and da abase sof ware including Microsof Word, Excel, Ou look and PowerPoin ; and follow all Universi y policies, procedures, and guidelines including bu no limi ed o safe y, civili y, informa ion securi y and non-discrimina ion policies and procedures. he incumben mus have a demons ra ed in eres and/or abili y o work in a mul icul ural/mul ie hnic environmen . Desired Qualifica ions: Knowledge of general principles, prac ices, and rends in academic advising. Experience wi h EAB Naviga e advising pla form, including bo h appoin men and progress repor campaigns. Knowledge of s uden -a hle e academic issues and complexi ies and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regula ions.
