Job Description
The Packaging Production Supervisor is expected to optimize the packaging process and the productivity of the workforce to satisfy internal and external customers with the highest quality product at a reasonable price and on time. The Packaging Production Supervisor is responsible for observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to company standards and are prepared for distribution. The Supervisor starts, adjusts, and repairs packaging machinery or notifies the maintenance department as needed, and is responsible for assigning work and functions to all packers and machine operators in specified area of the packaging plant.
3rd Shift operations run from 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
1. Ensure the team is following all safety protocols and wearing PPE.
2. Trains employees in company policies and procedures, and in the proper and safe use of equipment and tools.
3. Directs and mentors workforce to accomplish company objectives and goals.
4. Documents and reports production and personnel data as required.
5. Utilizes visual factory concepts to maximize asset utilization and plant performance.
6. Make recommendations to improve operations and efficiency, and reduce cost.
7. Builds the capability of set-up technicians.
8. Stays up to date on new processes, equipment, and industry practices.
9. Reviews all reports within responsibility area on periodic bases. Oversee work assignments of machine operators and packers.
10. Operate, clean and set-up filling machines for product packaging; when necessary.
11. Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on all related packaging equipment.
12. Advise Maintenance department of material and equipment concerns to avoid downtime and maintain productivity.
13. Ensure all employees follow company designated cGMPs/ HACCP guidelines/ maintain and perform all tasks with a mindset of physical/ food safety.
14. Hold the team accountable for their actions and issue disciplinary action as needed.
15. Manage labor utilization daily and flex as needed.
16. This is a working supervisor role and as such the supervisor will be on the floor a majority of the shift.
17. Understand and follow daily production schedule.
18. Work alongside inventory teams to clear up any variances/ posting errors to ensure inventory accuracy.
19. Performs other duties as required.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
1. Must have clear background and be authorized to work in USA
2. 5+ years’ experience with packaging machinery.
3. 2-3 years of prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
4. Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices / Food Safety a plus.
5. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and motivational skills, effective team building skills, proven ability to deliver results, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize, and the ability to effectively manage conflict, and maintain strong employee relations.
6. Effective PC skills required (Microsoft Office).
7. Prior knowledge or experience in Lean Manufacturing would be beneficial.
8. Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evening, and/or weekends.
9. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, and/or loud noises. Considerable physical activity requires heavy physical work including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds.
