Job Summary: Under minimal supervision, the Production Manager is responsible for the daily execution of production activities including but not limited to resource allocation and assignment, planning production sequences, establishing work schedules, reviewing production data, ensuring quality, and providing production reports to management. The incumbent is also responsible for personnel management of assigned production staff and the activities of the production floor. This position reports to the Director, Operations.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Enforce all policies and procedures at Experic including Regulatory, Safety, SOPs, Work Instructions, etc.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees on the production floor engaged in manufacturing and packaging activities to meet production schedule(s).
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training.
  • Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, evaluation, goal setting, performance management, corrective action, coaching and mentoring.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
  • Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Support investigational and quality systems activities.
  • Author, contribute to, review, edit and collaborate on the development, training, and implementation of operational SOPs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities at Experic.

Additional Position Requirements:

  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or concerns.
  • Set up and adjust machines and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning or Manufacturing Resource Planning system.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
  • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.
  • Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by:
  • making suggestions for improvement
  • learning new skills, procedures and processes.
  • Is available for overtime as needed.

Work and be proficient with e-mail systems

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise a team of production and operations personnel.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required plus six (6) years of experience in cGMP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or Packaging setting as a Production Manager or team leader; or a High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of experience in cGMP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or Packaging setting as a Production Manager or team leader. Knowledge of Packaging and/or manufacturing process. Bottling, Blistering, Carding, Assembly, Labeling, Encapsulation, Over-Encapsulation, Other Filling Operations experience required. Experience with highly potent compounds preferred. Upstream and downstream, primary and secondary packaging experience preferred. Clinical packaging experience preferred. Must have three (3) years of experience managing pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or packaging staff.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a manufacturing / packaging / warehouse setting with less than 10% travel.


Physical Demands:

Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds preferred.
