Job Summary

The Faja Lab within the Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience (LCN) at Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Neuropsychology Technician (Psychometrist) for an NIH-funded project examining the measurement of biomarkers for use in clinical trials with children on the autism spectrum. The research clinician will work primarily on a project that will examine biological and behavioral markers associated with social functioning in children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and with no developmental concerns. The project will use behavioral, clinical, parent report, eye tracking, and electrophysiological measures with a group of children who are participating at multiple time points. Responsibilities will include conducting diagnostic and clinical assessments of autistic children and providing oral and written clinical feedback to families participating in the study. Applicants should have experience in the clinical and diagnostic assessment of autistic children and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Research clinicians will be part of an interdisciplinary research team conducting a wide range of longitudinal assessments and will provide behavioral assistance to children during visits, review surveys completed by parents/caregivers, and assist with data entry and data management. Finally, the clinician will have the opportunity to assist with physiological data collection, data analysis, mentoring students and staff, and documentation of clinical research procedures for the consortium.

Research in the LCN is broadly focused on furthering our understanding of brain and cognitive development in children diagnosed with or at risk for various developmental disorders. Through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, we aim to drive the science forward as rapidly as possible, so that we can translate what we learn into earlier identification, improved therapies, and better outcomes for children and families affected by developmental disabilities.

Boston Children’s Hospital is ranked as the top Children’s Hospital in the United States and is committed research and to building a diverse workforce. Applications from women and individuals from marginalized racial and ethnic backgrounds are strongly encouraged.

Requirements:

A 2-year commitment to the position

Previous professional experience with children, including at least one year of experience (paid or unpaid) working in with children on the autism spectrum or with related developmental disabilities

Clinical assessment experience with autistic children, including cognitive or diagnostic assessment

Excellent interpersonal and clinical skills

High level of motivation; ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team; excellent communication skills, problem solving abilities, organization, and attention to detail

Preferred experience includes:

Written communication skills necessary to assist with grant preparation, publications, presentations and/or applications to an Institutional Review Board
