Sunriver Resort is hiring as part of our Woodlands Golf Course team! Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the 1st Assistant Superintendent is responsible for directing and managing the maintenance of Sunriver Resort's Woodlands Golf Course to produce the highest quality playing conditions in the most efficient and economic manner. They will develop maintenance programs using modern equipment, techniques and fertilizers to maintain the highest quality, standards and image as established by the corporation. The 1st Asst. Superintendent will assist in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond standards.

Responsibilities- Supervises the performance, attendance, attitudes, appearance and conduct of golf maintenance staff
- Maintains a professional image for self and crew in keeping with the high standards of a first class resort
- Maintains a strong morale and spirit throughout golf maintenance team
- Responsible for reinforcement of department and company standards through training
- Completes all proper new hire and termination paperwork
- Recommends discipline and/or termination when appropriate
- Works with HR to recruit and hire staff
- Manages timely completion of performance reviews
- Assist Head Superintendent with paying all invoices in a timely and accurate manner
- Monitor time punches in ADP Kronos, ensuring accurate payroll
- Communicate with members and guests in a professional manner
- Assists with the development, training and inspiration of golf maintenance team
- Utilizes labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs
- Responsible for the achievement of department goals and objectives
- Reviews guest/member course and pace of play feedback through Revinate / Member Survey and communicates information to team to ensure continual guest/member satisfaction
- Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for overall condition of the Golf Courses to the standards established by the department and the corporation
- Assists in the preparation of operating and capital budgets and operate courses within those guidelines
- Establishes turf management programs appropriate for the Woodlands Golf course
- Establishes and maintains appropriate record keeping for fertilizer and pesticides, gas and equipment parts inventories
- Utilizes labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs
- Implements and monitors Hazardous Communication Program and all other associate training programs, with safety the highest of priorities
- Maintains safe and pleasant work environment
- Assisting with development and supervision all Golf Course special projects
- Tours and assesses Golf Course conditions daily
- Conducts weekly problem solving/planning sessions
- Assist in equipment purchase, storage, inventory and maintenance
- Responsible for landscaping; planting, cultivating, pruning, care of plants, shrubs and trees on Golf Course
- Responsible for records: expense, weather, material applications and inventories
- Monitors outside contractors for special Golf Course projects
- Attends appropriate resort, division and department meetings
- Maintains a strong knowledge of golf maintenance trends
- High school education or equivalent required
- Degree in Turf Management desirable (enrollment required) and/or combination of experience and training required
- Minimum of three (3) years in a similar managerial position required
- Member of Golf Course Superintendent's Association of America (GCSAA)
- Must have a valid Oregon drivers license and meet company driving standards
- Must have valid First Aid & CPR certification
- Must have or be willing to obtain within 180 days of start date a commercial pesticide applicator's license
- Attend proper pesticide seminars to maintain a current applicators license
- Must have strong irrigation background (i.e. installation, repair and maintenance, with experience in computerized central)
- Must have thorough understanding of the game of golf so as to understand the playability of the course
- Must be current with modern turf management techniques and equipment by attending local training and seminars
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs and very occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance;
- Must be able to have frequent contact with fertilizers & pesticides;
