GENERAL FUNCTION:
The SBA Lending Specialist is responsible for origination and closing of government guaranteed small business loans; as well as promoting alternative finance products from other state and municipalities. Does this while simultaneously meeting established business results and client expectations.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Achieve target for annualized loan production as measured by number of loans and loan amount while operating within the Bank's tolerance for each risk category. Eligible products are
SBA Express, 7(a), and 504, and other conventional loans with government guarantee components.
Interface directly with borrowers who have been approved for SBA loans and secure customer acceptance of terms and conditions.
Responsible for the collection of required borrower information and packaging the loans to conform with U.S. Small Business Administration standard operating procedures as well as with the Bank's policies and regulatory compliance all within established timelines.
Responsible for the coordination with Middle Office to prepare loan documents
Balance Risk and Return measured by any charge offs that result in loss of income within the
first 12 months. Also actively engage in credit and risk management policy and processes
including servicing and liquidation requests as needed.
Utilize LOB Playbook and Consultative Sales behaviors to be a trusted advisor to our clients
resulting in strong client experience (internally and externally) retention/penetration and One Bank
execution.
Be an educational resource for Financial Center Managers and Business Banking Relationship Managers concerning all aspects of the SBA program.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of U.S. Small Business Administration loan programs and other federal, state and municipal alternative lending products strongly preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Finance or related business field, or four (4) years related experience
Minimum three (3) years Commercial Banking experience or three (3) years sales and underwriting experience
Must be detail oriented and organized while working in a fast-paced environment
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
Advanced to intermediate PC skills
