This is a full-time position leading and implementing Youth Wellness activities as part of the Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP).

We are seeking a Youth Wellness Coordinator to coordinate our Youth Health Corps initiative, deepen our connection with youth-centered organizations and collaboratively develop youth priorities that promote CDIP focus areas. The Coordinator should be able to provide insight into the experiences and narratives from youth and youth-serving organizations, as well as stay up to date on data trends and popular cultural challenges in youth health and wellness. The Coordinator will promote best practices in Youth Wellness and engagement and integrate them into CDIP initiatives.

Job Specifications:
Responsibilities & Duties
1. Coordinate the division’s Youth Health Corps (a youth jobs collaborative to advance CDIP focus areas), including facilitating regular meetings, organizing trainings, assisting with contracts, evaluations and other logistics for Youth Health Corps efforts.
2. Serve as liaison within the Division programs including Nutrition and Physical Activity, Tobacco Policy and Control, Injury Prevention, and other contractors, students, and teachers.
3. Research strategies and implement best practices aimed at building youth leadership skills with a focus on health disparities and the social and economic determinants of health and well-being.
4. Collaborate with youth organizations seeking to build internal capacity and sustainability in efforts to promote health justice and shape CDIP’s approach to Youth Wellness.
5. Cultivate relationships and advance partnerships with other local and state-level initiatives (ex. Mayor’s Office of Youth Engagement, Advocacy Institute, Tobacco Resistance Unit, School District of Philadelphia, Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability) and participate in their outreach efforts.
6. Develop and distribute information for youth, youth-led and youth-serving organizations about CDIP initiatives including active living, food justice, water equity, primary care access, tobacco prevention and violence reduction.
7. Serve as youth representative on CDIP’s community advisory board (CAB).
8. Strategize & collaborate with media team on CDIP social media plan for youth targeted initiatives.
9. Develop and deliver presentations on CDIP initiatives including active living, food justice, water equity, primary care access, tobacco prevention and gun violence reduction.
10. Monitor and track Youth Wellness activities to measure advancements and areas that need greater focus.
11. Occasionally represent CDIP at events coordinated by CDIP partners and funders. Support each program team and collaborate to develop youth initiatives.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work, or equivalent experience in related fields
· Experience with youth engagement strategies
· 1 year of experience in youth serving organizations
· Strong written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills; team player; excellent follow through; ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands.
OR
Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Department of Public Health.
· Proficiency in Spanish preferred
Skills:
· Demonstrated persuasive writing and speaking skills and ability to organize written and oral communication aimed at youth
· Demonstrated community organizing experience in communities of color
· Demonstrated ability to present ideas clearly and confidently in large group and small group presentations
· Demonstrate creative responses to community organizing challenges
Other Requirements:
· Standard office setting with extended periods at workstation and periodic use of office equipment. Staff are expected to come into the office; based on conversations with supervisor, a combination of in-office and some remote work may be allowed.
· Position Type and Work Schedule: Full time position, typical hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
· Travel: Frequent local travel to multiple sites and community meetings within Philadelphia

Salary & Benefits:
· $58,000 - $65,000 commensurate with experience.
· Salary is commensurate with experience.
