Position Mission: Ensure that PEAK youth have the awareness, confidence, skills, and tools they need to reach their full potential by implementing the successful design and delivery of discovery, experience, and project-based programs that integrate with, and support a model of continual, year-round learning.
REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS
The Youth Programs Coordinator reports to the Youth Programs Manager and works collaboratively with other program and administrative staff.
POSITION AVAILABILITY The Programs Coordinator is a full-time exempt position with a schedule which regularly includes weekend and evening hours.
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
- Under the guidance of the Youth Programs Manager, develop Milwaukee-based programming for our participants grades 1-8
- Serve as lead facilitator for elementary programs, workshops and leadership labs, ensuring progression from year to year and season to season
- Support the preparation, design, and execution of programs, retreats, and events. (curriculum review, logistics, materials assembly, communications)
- Serve as main facilitator for summer participant recruitment activities
- Coordinate activities and reservations with community partners
- Drive participant shuttles
- Serve as an integral member of the summer Day Camp leadership team
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
- Belief that with the right support and access to quality programs and experiences, all young people are able to achieve at the highest level imaginable
- Experience supporting young people navigate through complex emotions
- Comfort in talking through the complex emotions or behaviors with the guardians of the young person
- Highly energetic with an ability to work independently and maintain a strong commitment to teamwork; Ability to confidently set and enforce clear expectations and boundaries with youth participants and staff
- Calm under duress and able to make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to minimize risk and to ensure safety and well-being of participants and staff
- Highly organized with the ability to plan for multifaceted programming effectively and efficiently
- Familiarity with Google Drive and client management databases is a plus
CERTIFICATIONS
Must have a driver’s license valid in the State of Wisconsin.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience; experience in teaching and facilitating classes, trainings, and/or workshops.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Willingness and ability to travel locally in Milwaukee to meet with community partners and to deliver programming
Understanding that summer programming is full-day and can be demanding with limited time for breaks
You will be in constant motion, interacting and moving for activities throughout the day
You must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude under adverse conditions or situations
