The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is looking for a full-time Youth Programs Coordinator to join our team that serves more than 6,000 young people each year. As the Youth Programs Coordinator, you will make an impact by engaging young people in our mission through fun, hands-on programs, as well as providing coordination and administrative support for our Youth Programs and team. This position will typically work 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekends are required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead programs as needed across campuses when additional staff is needed or to cover staff absences
- Lead youth in-person and virtual programs during the school year that engage young people ages 4-18 in the Wisconsin Humane Society’s mission, including scout programs, camps, birthday parties, Kids’ Night Outs, and field trip programs
- Serve as Camp Director during camp from June through August for young people who have completed grades 1-9, as well as cover for staff absences during camp
- Lead programs for outreach partners as needed
- Ensure excellent customer service and delivery of programs consistent with organization and community priorities
- Provide administrative and program coordination support
- Coordinate programs to meet organizational and partner goals
- Support Youth Programs Director in training program and summer staff
- Coordinate scholarship and youth leader programs, including process and systems management
- Participate as a member of the Youth Programs team in planning and implementing the organization’s youth engagement strategy
- Support and coordinate administrative systems and promotional needs
- Support program entry and maintenance and be the team’s point of contact for Convio
- Track program metrics that support program and organizational impact and engagement goals; pull reports as requested
- Develop and steward relationships with youth serving professionals in the Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Racine communities
- Support promotional plan by helping to draft and distribute promotional communications, in partnership with the Director of Youth Programs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Three years experience working with youth
- Commits to and models our values of compassion, respect, and kindness; professionalism; innovation; positive approach; and equity
- Experience and skill working with diverse groups of young people
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite; experience with or ability to quickly learn email marketing and events management platforms
- Dedicated to providing strong customer service
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with students, teachers, and community partners
- Understanding or a desire to understand systemic challenges that affect youth people from underserved communities
- Works well with a team and can lead programs with minimal supervision
- Able to work evenings and weekends
- Must be able to pass a safe Caregiver background check
