Youth Counselor-After School Program

Are you searching for a rewarding position changing the lives of youth? We have the position for you! Trinity Youth Development is hiring part-time Youth Counselors to join our After School Workshops program.

What is an After School Workshop?

After School Workshops are a mental health service that provides participants with a short term, one-on-one relationship with a Youth Counselor in a group setting. All Workshop sessions take place at Trinity where a Workshop leader facilitates organized group activities that help program participants achieve their goals. After School Workshops occur Monday-Thursday from 4pm-7:30pm.

What kind of kids are in After School Workshops?

In After School Workshops, we work with young people ranging in age from 5-18. We most commonly work with children who have experienced trauma, have mental health diagnoses, and/or experience developmental delays and disorders.

We provide training and support to help Youth Counselors feel confident working with the incredible children in our programs.

What does being a Youth Counselor in an After School Workshops look like?

Each Youth Counselor is matched with a young person and communicates directly with the child’s caregiver. The Youth Counselor picks up the participant after school and brings them to Trinity where they participate together in organized, FUN, goal-oriented activities planned by our amazing Workshop Leaders. Some activities include team building games, arts and crafts, field trips, and of course horse time! Dinner and snacks are provided. The Youth Counselor later drops the participant off at a prearranged location and then documents the level of progress made and what goals were worked on.

What eligibility requirements do we have for Youth Counselors?

1. A reliable vehicle and current insurance

2. Availability Monday-Thursday from 3pm-8:30pm and the desire to work 2-4 of those evenings

3. Ability to communicate professionally

4. Be willing to submit to and pass a caregiver background check as required by the State of Wisconsin

5. Passion to work with Trinity to change young people's lives!

Do I need to have a degree to become a Trinity Youth Counselor?

No! Youth Counseling is not therapy. We hire a variety of people with different education levels and experience! Pay is $18-$30/hour based on relevant degree and experience.
