Looking to make a difference in the community and help the youth excel. The Salvation Army Midland Division in Ferguson is hiring for a Youth Development Specialist ( Spark Academy) at our Community Empowerment Center. This is a part-time 25 hours per week.

Job Objective
This position is expected to advance and support the Mission of The Salvation Army. It is a ministry position responsible for planning and managing the Salvation Army's Spark Academy Program, a holistic Youth Development program for 3rd and 4th grade students.
Essential Functions
- Prepares for and monitors a variety of educational, recreational, relational, and spiritual development activities, events, and trips
- Give opportunities to discover love for God and neighbors and skill to participate in family life, neighborhood, state, and country. Provide Christian leadership to the youth to encourage their spiritual development.
- Serve as an intentional mentor and role model; share meals and fellowship time with the youth.
- Assist with recruiting and training volunteers.
- Record and maintain statistical information, data records, daily attendance of SPAK Mates
- Planning, creativity, teaching observation and reporting, set up and clean up are all part of the job.
- Actively participate in all staff meeting and trainings.
- Maintain confidentiality, proper client boundaries and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines.
- Comply with and follow procedures in the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center Handbook.
- Work with SPARK Academy program manager, Intake specialist and Case manager to maintain active enrollment
- Maintain a positive, professional work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that foster good relationships everyone.
- Create an environment where young people feel safe.
- May be required to assist with other programs or events at the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center-Salvation Army.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree with emphasis in Youth Development preferred. A minimum of two years' experience in the Youth Development field.
- Person with a Spiritual authority and role model for young people
- Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, etc.)
- Valid Driver's License. (Must meet the guidelines provided by the State of residence and the automobile insurance provider as pertaining to passenger van/buses).
Skills
- Knowledge of Christian theology and Salvation Army mission, and preservation of its philosophy, and doctrine.
- Credentials experience in Youth Development and trauma-informed training
- Ability and familiarity to use PC hardware and approved Microsoft programs, data base management, develop flyers and other related materials for SPARK Academy program
- Ability to use PC hardware and approved word processing, spreadsheet, outlook, data base management and graphic software to develop flyer and other SPARK related materials.
- Ability to speak, read and write English in a manner that is sufficient for consultation with supervisors, employees, parents, and youth; and perform the requirements of this job.
