Full Time
Salary: $44,000/year $21.15/hour
Schedule: 40 hours/week - Requires flexibility including 4-5 Evenings per month and at least one Saturday per month
Position Purpose: The Learning & Development Specialist will ensure Willows Way clients are provided services by well-trained employees. They will manage the development and delivery of training curricula and Employee Development programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of Full Time experience in service delivery to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Associates Degree (or 60 hours toward a Bachelor’s degree) in a Human Services, Social Sciences, or Education/Special Education. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities and person-centered service delivery principles and ability to apply and communicate these in the development of training materials and delivery of classroom objectives.
- Ability to employ active listening, critical thinking and a variety of teaching methods to develop employees to their full potential.
- Role model for positive client interactions and professionalism.
- Ability to interact and communicate in work situations to solve problems and resolve conflicts in a professional manner that supports the dignity and respect of all involved.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications i.e. Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, Teams and other applications in order to train others in their use and input/track training due dates.
- Creativity with curriculum development and use of a variety of teaching methods.
- Ability to be creative and engaging in classroom setting in order to meet classroom objectives.
- Must be able to successfully obtain instructor certification in CPR/First Aid, Mandt, and Tools of Choice.
- Successful past experience with clients with behavior challenges and knowledge of positive intervention solutions.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, develop, provide and ensure the provision of training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, adult learning theory, computer assisted/self-directed learning programs, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshop.
- Develop agency training content and curriculum seeking input from various departments as needed. Assist with program specific training curriculum development and delivery as needed.
- Schedule delivery of training classes for Willows Way employees and secure necessary instructors, training sites and class materials.
- Create, publish and maintain agency training calendar.
- Manage the operation of the training registration process.
- Coordinate, schedule and implement the employee orientation program to include assurance of on-the-job training procedures.
- Meet with new employees to ensure communication of training requirements for their position and set up of initial training to be completed in a timely manner.
- Seek out opportunities, keep abreast of and notify staff of extracurricular training opportunities and coordinate sign up, accommodations and budgets.
- Seek out ideas/needs regarding extracurricular training opportunities and provide those as needed.
- Ensure all training aligns with requirements of Willows Way’s philosophy, policies and guidelines as well as funders and accrediting entities.
- Maintain open, proactive and professional communication with supervisors regarding staff attendance in classes, concerns with staff participation in class, and staff compliance with policy & procedures.
- Provide accurate and timely information to payroll regarding clock in/out for trainings completed and provide certificates as required for personnel files.
- Ensure that all trainers receive required credentials/instruction in order to teach.
- Participate in agency trainer discussion groups and solicit ideas/thoughts from other agency trainers.
- Administer staff development certification programs.
- Develop, organize and maintain training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials including handouts for classes and other supplies.
