Job Title: Young Adult Housing Specialist (Peer Support)
Reports To: Director of Programming and Project Management
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, Full-time

Position Overview:
Family Promise of Greater Cleveland is a non-profit agency with a 30-year history of providing services to homeless families in Greater Cleveland. Under the supervision of the
Director of Programming and Project Management, the Young Adult Housing Specialist provides targeted case management services to homeless families with a head of household 18-24. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. This is a peer-based position and the applicant must have lived experience with homelessness.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, interviews and assesses clients to determine initial and ongoing eligibility, monitors and maintains case files and case load of families served.
- Manages incoming calls, reviews requests for services from members, provides information on available network services and transfers clients as appropriate to respective staff.
- Works closely with REACH to ensure adherence to the YHDP goals.
- Adherence to trauma-informed and trauma-responsive principles (The Sanctuary Model).
- Completes assessments, drafts overall housing and stability plan, and goals with each family.
- Has frequent contact with each family to provides location and navigation support during housing search, identifies family needs, resolves problems/barriers, and ensures linkage to appropriate agency and community resources.
- Monitors and documents each family’s progress and reviews case files on a regular basis.
- Prepares and processes supporting documentation, correspondence, and reports for review prior to distribution.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with agency staff, community agencies, governmental agencies, and service providers to facilitate efficient and effective service delivery.
- Works with day care agencies, schools, and other community resources to ensure children in shelter engage in appropriate linkages and services.
- Communicates regularly with other agency staff working with assigned families to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Assists with interfacing with and determining other community services needed to help families to fully accomplish goals.
- Attends inter-agency, program and agency staff meetings as assigned.
- Participates in training opportunities as required.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
· This is a peer-based position and the applicant must have lived experience with homelessness.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of and interest in human services, especially poverty, homelessness, and unemployment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including compassion and a sensitivity to social issues.
- Sound judgment and an ability to act quickly and professionally under pressure.
- Ability to work as a team player and support clients and professional staff.
Compensation:
· $15-18 per hour
