Reporting Structure:The ELL Teachers reports to the Supervisor of the Wayne Township Adult Education Program. Performance Agreement:The Wayne Township Adult Education (WAE) teachers will perform all aspects of the communicated job description. This employee will effectively meet the contractual and performance expectations of the MSD of Wayne Township.
Formal performance evaluation will be conducted annually. Purpose: To plan and deliver rigorous, relevant TABE aligned curriculum; to facilitate student participation and opportunity for mastery PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides a stimulating teaching-learning environment using (Adult Learning Plan (ALP) Skills integrated Daily Oral Language through the use of CUP (Common Underlying Proficiency) Grammar rules. Makes use of a variety of instructional tools and teaching aids and techniques to address different learning styles, and student assessments.
Provides a welcoming and stimulating teaching-learning environment using ALP and class level literacy skills to guide instruction, including Daily Oral Language and Choral Reading. Makes use of a variety of instructional tools, learning centers, and teaching aids/techniques to address different learning styles Attends all meetings called by the Coordinator and Supervisor unless excused by the person calling the meeting. Actively participates in curriculum study groups, collaborates with team, utilizes information and/or advice from ELL Supervisor, materials, student centers, and/or other groups to which the teacher may be assigned.
Maintains high expectations and holds students accountable for student conduct, attendance and punctuality, distance learning expectations, and teacher expectation performance for the program. Accurately assesses students using various methods/assessments, provides feedback, and records student scores and progress, as well as track distance learning hours. Maintains records as required by District and DWD policy and procedures and as instructed by the Coordinator and/or Supervisor.
Utilizes approved instructional material and appropriate equipment or technology for educational purposes. Maintains appropriate supervision of students at all times and accounts for time accurately on records. Initiates daily text, emails, or social media connections to engage students about attendance.
Communicates with para, life coach, and supervisor in regards to student tardiness or unexcused absences to address possible barriers and increase overall class attendance. Keeps call/text record as reference in student's file. Respects student's background, diversity in the classroom, and is sensitive to the different cultures, level of education, traditions, language, and differences of each student.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the Coordinator and/or Supervisor. Embraces the diversity within the classroom and celebrates all students individually. Builds on student's prior and background knowledge, and utilizes unbiased perceptions for lesson design/classroom structure.
Collaborates with assigned para to work on providing student data for para testing/review lead, building lessons, one-on-one student activities, target skills, centers, attendance records, and Table 4 Performance reports. Responsible for attaining 90% of testing in class, 90% student retention in class, 75% Table 4 gain, 75% Table 4C (Distance Learning), and 90% on Table 4B for quality of instruction. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the ELL Program Supervisor.
Cooperates and collaborates with ELL Program Supervisor in lesson building, strategizing, student support and facilitating, in efforts to reach performance goal in all areas, including but not limited to: Class Instruction, Student Retention, Table 4 Testing performance, research-based centers and classroom learning activities address different learning styles, etc.
