    English as a Second Language teacher: Mandated program for adult learners
    Reports to: Director of Adult Education
    Part Time, Academic Calendar, Monday and Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30 PM plus paid planning time
    Non-Exempt
    Vogel-Wetmore School, 68 Church St., Torrington, CT 06790
    Pay Rate: $31.19/hr plus .75/hr of paid planning for each three hour class
    Position is open until filled / Anticipated start date is Nov 1, 2023
    Job Description: EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to teach newcomer English learners.
    Major Responsibilities:
    • Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners
    • Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of androgogy (adult learning)
    • Knowledge of the English Language Proficiency Standards
    • Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports
    • Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop, projector, and interactive board
    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Values diversity and inclusion
    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations
