Sr. Enterprise Business Architect - Wealth Management Trust & Investment Platform
The Senior Enterprise Business Architect will play a highly visible role within the WM Office of the Chief Operating Officer (OCOO) by leading the design and implementation strategy of a modern WM Trust & Investment Advisor Platform to meet business-defined outcomes. The Senior Enterprise Business Architect is a seasoned multi-disciplinary information technology expert with extensive knowledge in investment record keeping, operations, workflows and advisor platforms.
The Senior Architect will report to and collaborate closely with the Director of Trust & Investment Platform Modernization, who is accountable for platform vision and business outcomes of the anticipated multi-year $250 million Platform modernization initiative. The WM Trust & Investment Platform is a suite of tools and capabilities utilized by WM front office advisors in management of high net worth client portfolios, with ~275 billion in platform AUM that accounts for ~60% of WM revenue.
Responsibilities include leading collaborative design of a new WM Trust & Investments operating model, vendor analysis and selection, design of roadmap to incremental value, implementation strategy, liaising with WM and enterprise IT on data needs, close collaboration with project leadership team to meet key milestones, and coordination with WM IT on project execution.
The Senior Enterprise Business Architect will be a member of the project leadership team, which will have oversight of 100-200 project resources working on multiple complex programs running in parallel.
Responsibilities include:
Trust & Investment Platform Design
  • Lead collaborative design of operating model for business-defined outcomes
  • Invest time to understand rationale of business-defined outcomes and WM advisor needs
  • Design primary sub-program roadmaps and implementation strategy
    • Record Keeping, Wealth Data, Workflow, Advisor tools, Reporting, Trading (Order Management System)
    • Identify and document roadmap milestones to measure project progress
  • Design towards incremental value-add deliverables
    • Quantify benefits and identify delivery milestones
  • Assist with vendor evaluation and selection
  • Establish scope of capabilities and expected information architecture for the systems in the strategic solution
  • Develop and maintain the Business Architecture artifacts for the current state, strategic state and the know interim milestone states

Implementation Oversight
  • Partner with WM IT leadership on execution of development programs
  • Partner with Delivery/Implementation manager on execution oversight and progress towards milestones

Project Leadership
  • Partner with project leadership to design and execute as a team to meet business objectives
  • Assist with budget, prioritization and resource decisions
  • Adapt to change (e.g., budget changes, resource constraints)
  • Maintain and develop cross-BU relationships in support of WM Trust & Investment Platform modernization
  • Support the project via content creation, presentations or other asks

Talent Management & Partner Development
  • Foster a work environment that is positive, diverse, celebrates success and provides opportunity for growth
  • Coach team members in ongoing development of personal skill sets
  • Assist in talent identification and retention

Qualifications
  • 15+ years relevant work experience in asset servicing or investments
  • Technical expertise in investment technology stack design and implementation
  • Demonstrated success in large scale operating model or technology transformation
  • Experience/understanding of investment operations
  • Experience/understanding of investments and wealth management
  • Knowledge of capital markets: equity, fixed income, alternative investments and risk management principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft suite
  • Undergraduate degree in related field required, Advanced degree preferred
