The Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) functions independently as a member of the Heart & Vascular Care Procedure Center patient care team that includes registered nurses, cardiovascular technologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, cardiology fellows and faculty physicians. This individual is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Cardiovascular Lab. Duties for this position include but are not limited to: hemodynamic monitoring, circulating and scrubbing roles during Invasive Cardiovascular and basic EP procedures and other procedures scheduled in our Heart & Vascular Procedure Center. This position also includes patient teaching, assisting with pre and post patient assessment and patient care within scope of practice. This individual is able to demonstrate technical expertise in working with electrophysiology and cardiovascular patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional angiographic procedures.
This position requires the individual to be flexible in their work schedule. This individual has previous radiologic technologist or cardiovascular technologist work experience or is a graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist/Technologist (CVIS) training program and has ACLS certification. The ability to self-direct and to organize a varied workload is required. This incumbent demonstrates competency in assisting with Cardiovascular procedures from newborn thru geriatric patient population. This position reports to the Invasive Cardiology Supervisor. This individuals annual performance is jointly evaluated with input from the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Labs and Invasive Cardiology Supervisor and Invasive Cardiology Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Facility Requirement:
- Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (permanent address must be included in traveler's profile including resume, Medefis portal, onboarding documents).
- Experience:
- Electrophysiology or EP experience, Strong EP Ablation experience required
- Two (2) years of Cardiovascular Technologist work experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory required.
- Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.
- Prior traveling experience required.
- Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start. UW Health Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to start date.
- Licensure and Certification:
- If an Imaging Technologist, then registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Basic Life Support/CPR Certification (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- RCIS preferred
- Education:
- Minimum Graduate of a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Technologist (CVIS) training program. One year of Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) or Interventional Radiology experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
- Preferred Bachelors degree in relevant field.

- Telemetry Exam
- Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (not for clinic positions). UW Health Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to start date.
- Floating
- Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the travelers assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.
