Tunnel Tech - LEAD (HVAC/Mechanical)
Position Summary
HVAC Specialist/ Technician will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems including motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches within the network facilities. This may include preventative maintenance services performing warranty services and emergency repairs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform, certify, and permit HVAC work and systems.
- Responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and correcting problems with the HVAC systems in client facilities.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair heating, air conditioning, ventilating, and refrigerating systems,
- Calibrate and repair associated electronic, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Troubleshoot HVAC electrical controls, including motors, relays, time delays, and solid-state devices
- Evaluate system refrigerant charge and adjust as required
- Utilize HVAC test equipment to test and measure equipment performance in order to troubleshoot and repair HVAC components
- Perform preventative maintenance of HVAC units, ventilation systems, and control equipment based on the manufacturer's recommended procedures
- Maintain a database report for the quantities of refrigerant added.
- Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
- Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems and performing warranty services.
- Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Providing technical direction.
- Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance and diagnostic functions within the CMMS.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must be Licensed HVAC technician with a HVAC license and five (5) or more years of progressively increased experience in operations and maintenance of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems including motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches.
- Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems with diagnostics and sensors and back-up systems.
- Must have knowledge of single units and Liebert equipment
- Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, standards, specifications and plans sets.
- Ability to interface with the public in a professional manner.
- 24/7 Operations Availably for holidays, nights, weekends, and 3rd shift are required.
- On call duties as assigned.
- Must be willing and able to respond within contractual guidelines
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
- Must have knowledge of single units and Liebert equipment.
- 5 plus years of experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- HVAC Certification

- Ability to use labor-intensive and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric powered tools and equipment.
- Vision abilities include both close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work at elevated places/locations such as working from bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platforms lifts.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
