The UCLA Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) is a leading research center tackling urban mobility challenges with innovative solutions, shaping transportation policy across cities, states, and beyond. The UCLA Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies is dedicated to California's urban and regional issues, offering research, public programs, and publications on topics like transportation, housing, and the environment. Both sit within the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, renowned for its education, research, and service.
The Web Experience Designer plays a vital role in shaping the online experience for our renowned research institutes and school. You'll work alongside a dedicated team to design and develop websites, web applications, and data visualizations that advance knowledge management and inform public policy.
The Web Experience Designer is:
- A user champion: uses analytic tools to conduct user research, participate in usability testing, and analyze data to understand user needs and behaviors. Craft Web Experiences that meet user expectations.
- Collaborative: Partners with researchers and administrative staff to to translate sometimes complex information into engaging and accessible Web Experiences. Design visual interfaces, page layouts, and data visualizations that effectively communicate research findings.
- Inquisitive: Dive into website analytics to identify user journeys, pain points, and opportunities for improvement. Utilize data insights to inform design decisions and drive website optimization

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Interaction Design, or a related field or the equivalent experience and training

Understanding of the user-centered design process (user research, user needs assessment, user modeling, design, usability evaluation and developer relations).

Understanding of design principles, guidelines and relevant policies including web accessibility standards.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
