This Water Customer Service Representative initiates service requests with customers and provides basic information about City services and activities including Water Resources information and billing. This position communicates daily with walk-in customers and must input customer information correctly within the Customer Information System (enQuesta) to ensure that billing for newly activated accounts is correct. Good customer service skills must be demonstrated even during potentially disruptive situations that can occur. This position also answers departmental phone calls and directs customers (walk-in or phone) to appropriate personnel. This position also maintains the NSF (non-sufficient funds) database and follows up with customers who did not sufficiently pay (bad checks, illegal activity, broken promises to pay, etc.) on their accounts. This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- "OR" an equivalency of 3 years of education plus 5 years of directly related work experience in a utility environment
- 1-3 years of previous customer service experience working in a utility environment (i.e.. Electric Company, Gas Company and/or telephone company)
- Experience in Microsoft Office Applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bi-lingual
- Experience working with a utility billing application such as EnQuesta or a related system
