Job Description
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess 5+ years of experience in municipal, consulting, or related fields.
- Background in hydrology and hydraulics, including open-channel flow, pipelines, and flood mitigation.
- Proficiency in modeling, design, and construction of underground utility systems, weirs, and pumps, or ability to analyze modeling results.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD (Civil 3D), Revit, Adobe Acrobat, or Bluebeam Revu.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with various stakeholders, including clients, consultants, contractors, Resort stakeholders, and management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Working knowledge of standards and codes applicable to civil utility systems.
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in creating and updating features in GIS (Esri ArcGIS).
- Familiarity with HEC-RAS, InfoWater, or similar modeling software.
Required Education:
- BS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Responsibilities:
- Available full time (40 hours/week).
- Review and investigate historic drawings, documentation, on-site, and internal knowledge to confirm and optimize the construction and operation of waterway systems.
- Conduct fieldwork to investigate and assess utilities infrastructure and gather relevant data.
- Provide engineering and technical direction to consultants for the preparation of civil studies, reports, plans, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Review hydrologic and hydraulic engineering studies as the Owner's Representative and provide recommendations for future projects.
- Develop concept designs and Request for Proposals (RFPs).
- Review contract documents and calculations for lift stations, weir systems, and pipelines.
- Develop equipment and construction specifications.
- Attend, participate in, and problem-solve during site visits from concept through construction.
- Independently review calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure projects adhere to applicable codes and standards, focusing on constructability, efficiency, and long-term maintainability.
- Resolve design issues creatively and thoroughly, coordinating design with other disciplines.
- Provide guidance and concise decision matrices to support executive decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and enforce Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details.
- Liaise with City officials and external agencies to ensure project scope and implementation are coordinated and compliant with external requirements.
- Occasionally perform as Engineer of Record, including signing and sealing construction documents as needed.
