Job description

Under general direction of the Principal Engineer, Water Resources, the incumbent serves as a non-supervisory staff specialist in the Delta Conveyance Office (DCO). The incumbent performs the more complex engineering analyses and assists with oversight for a wide variety of engineering and geotechnical activities related to the design and construction of intakes, pumping plants, tunnels, embankments, and other water conveyance structures.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's Water Resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Special Requirements This position requires possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Must possess a valid California driver's license and operate a vehicle on public roadways or travel to remote areas. Travel on short notice and overnight lodging may be required on some trips, as will the ability to enter/exit vehicles, structures, the ability to ascend/descend stairs, slopes and ladders. This position is office-centered which means the incumbent works more than fifty percent of their time monthly in the office.
This position is covered in the Political Reform Act and requires financial disclosure within 30 days of the first and last day physically worked in a covered position and annually by April 1st.

This position requires that the incumbent work cooperatively with others, maintain regular,
consistent attendance, and exercise good judgment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. A Geotechnical Engineering Professional License is highly desired.
